When using the command line, it helps to be able to quickly correct a mistake. Cisco provides shortcuts that allow you to save time by deleting multiple characters at a time.
For example, say the command is correct up to a certain point, and then everything to the end of the line is wrong. Simply position the cursor at the beginning of the incorrect part and type Ctrl-K.
Similarly, if everything from the cursor to the beginning of the line is wrong, you can delete all those characters with Ctrl-U or Ctrl-X.
There are also shortcuts for deleting individual words. Ctrl-W deletes the word to the left of the cursor, and Esc-D deletes the word to the right of the cursor.
